Next-Gen Warehouse Management System Upgrade for a Fashion Retail Giant
A major UK fashion retailer with an 80-year history and 250+ stores across the UK and Europe, overseeing manufacturing, design, and distribution end to end.

Technologies Used
The Challenge
The client's custom-built warehouse management system was outdated and could no longer keep pace with the scale of its distribution centre operations. The goal was to retire it in favour of a modern, externally managed WMS — without breaking the flow of orders, inventory transfers, and allocation documents that kept warehouses running.
The Solution
We started with a full assessment of the legacy system and mapped every integration point with the new logistics vendor. From there, we built seamless connectivity between the in-house inventory system and the external WMS, using AWS pipelines (S3, Lambda, DynamoDB) feeding into Snowflake for analytics, with Airflow managing the workflows and PL/SQL handling core database logic. We developed new services for picking, packing, and returns, connected freight forwarders through custom APIs, and added robust error reporting alongside tailored features like AWS SNS/SQS-based order cancellation. Jenkins and Terraform kept delivery and infrastructure continuously improving throughout.
The Results
- New freight forwarder integrated — expanded logistics capacity through custom API connections.
- Faster, more accurate order processing — improved in-house fulfilment procedures lifted customer satisfaction.
- Real-time data access — teams now make decisions on live data, not lagging reports.
- Stronger analytics foundation — Snowflake integration supports ongoing strategic planning at scale.
